Lighthouse
Some houses are designed with their feet firmly on the ground. Others begin as dreams with feet propped up on a beach chair. This home began with a whimsical thought. What if we found an old abandoned lighthouse and built a beach cottage around it? Karen and Stan Pigman wanted something to remind them of childhood summers spend on the beach. They wanted a home that would look like it belonged on the beach, but different from their neighbors. So we took the stairs and elevator for the home and molded them to look like the Old Baldy lighthouse. New York artist, David DiSantis, added wrought iron pieces shaped like mango vines, as if the abandoned lighthouse grew its’ own handrails out of the underbrush.
