Cothran Harris Architecture is a full service Architectural and Interior Design office. We opened our doors in 1989. Over the years, the office has designed a variety of projects including private residences, apartment complexes, commercial and industrial projects. Projects designed by the firm have been featured in Coastal Living, Haven, Metropolitan Home, Mid-Atlantic, Washington Spaces and Wrightsville Beach magazines.
We can provide traditional architectural design drawings or 3D visualization as well as physical models for our clients. We can provide electronic files after completion of the design for facility management. Designers at our office pride themselves on developing architectural ideas through consensus with the client. We isolate the primary goals and aesthetic concerns of your project, and integrate these ideas appropriately into the architectural design.
RESIDENTIAL
Residential projects include vacation cottages as well as family homes. We work with you to make sure your home meets your needs on the inside as well as instilling a sense of pride when you look at the exterior. We do not promote a signature architectural style, but work to ensure the exterior style chosen is appropriate for the size and massing of the interior rooms. We work with clients to make sure their homes are energy efficient as well as elegant.
COMMERCIAL
Commercial projects include the design of apartments, art galleries, banks, car dealerships, business offices, factory buildings, a shipyard facility, and warehouses. We have worked with many organizations to identify their long term goals, set budgets and plan for the future. Good design is good business.
CERTIFICATIONS
Mr. Harris is registered to practice architecture in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. He has been a registered architect in North Carolina since 1984. He holds degrees in architectural design from North Carolina State and Syracuse Universities. Mr. Harris serves as a consultant with several different organizations for review of architectural design and guidelines.
PRE-DESIGN
We can provide help for clients before they decide to build. We will help you determine the building setbacks, zoning restrictions, permit costs and time requirements. Then we can work with you to develop a budget based on the buildable square footage of a lot, your quality requirements and the style of the house. You make an informed decision on whether to proceed based on these predesign services.
DESIGN
We provide design services based on your requirements. When we are finished, it is your project, not ours. Over the years we have worked with clients from Kansas City to Birmingham while their homes were being designed and constructed. Long distance clients require drawings that are more complete and more review during construction than local clients. The level of service we provide and therefore the cost of our services is based on our client’s needs, not on a percentage of construction cost. We believe providing full architectural, interior and construction administration services provides the best value to the client. However, we will work with a client to provide services on a pick and choose basis.
