Children’s Museum

When the director of the Wilmington Children’s Museum asked us to develop a unique playground facility we jumped at the chance. First we came up with a background story. What if there was an old lighthouse at the museum? An abandoned wooden tower that blew over in a big storm and now kids love to climb on it. Designing it was not as easy as coming up with the idea. Using national CPSC guidelines for public playgrounds, we created a structure that was safe with an approved slide embedded in the structure. Night lighting made the facility useful after dark for big kids at wedding receptions.

Unluckily, the museum didn’t approve the director’s plan and the lighthouse wasn’t built.
